Vista Tutorial - screen goes blank after screen saver and cant bring it back

my problem is when i leave my computer and the screen saver comes up after
the screen saver is gone and just blanks out i can not get back to the
desktop or any other type of activity i find that if i leave a web page
running the entire time i am gone i can somtimes get back to it but if i dont
have this running then i cant get back and sometimes not at all even if i
have a page up the only thing i can do from there is restart my computer any
one else have this problem or know how to fix it? i have gone through already
the screen saver options and hibernation options as well help plz and thanks!
