Vista - how to rebuild mediaid.bin

In order to restore from a backup the file mediaid.bin must be available in
the root of the drive where the backupfolder resides (see KB940263). Does
anybody know how to rebuild this file if the original mediaid.bin file is
unavailable (for instance, when one moves the backupfolder to another drive,
without moving also mediaid.bin) ?

Did you ever find out how to rebuild the Mediaid.bin file? I'm having the
same issue (copied backup folder without the Mediaid.bin file).
