| | October 2007 vista updates "MASHED" my computer!!...! Hi there, A few days ago i was alerted from my taskbar that windows had seven new updates for my p.c and did i wish to install, i clicked yes. After a few moments the updates were complete and needed to restart, i clicked yes. Then...., Well then nothing, the computer tried to restart but just froze on a black screen but the little cpu light was flashing so i thought this might take some time to be configured or something, so i went out for a few hours. When i came back there was no change, so i tried to restart again, but nothing happened. So i got out my Lap-top (Sony VAIO VGN-AR41L) manual and proceeded to follow instructions to recover, press F10 on boot up e.t.c. It didn't work!!!!!! After a few attempts of retarting, which i know is bad it eventually gave me an option of starting in safe mode e.t.c . I managed to uninstall the updates even though none of the software reconised my computer, I have genuine copy of vista home premium that came with this lap-top. Now the updates have installed again automaticlly and want to restart, what on earth should i do, i feel i have more problems than can be addressed. It also seems that my lap-top is running about 50% slower than before, who's responsible????? |

| | Re: October 2007 vista updates "MASHED" my computer!!...! You may well ask who is responsible. For many, myself included, the updates installed without a hitch. It may be something on your computer that is not on everybody's Home Premium installation. For now, let them through, and then do a system restore if everything goes wrong again. Then do a 'custom' installation and choose those that you want installed. Uncheck those that are causing your issues. IMO auto installation of those is one of the biggest problems in Windows. What if yo uare suing the pc and it is installing updates? The pc runs slow and you have no idea why is what happens! You blame the pc and in fact you are correct, except it is your OS. NO I do NOT recommend anythign but Windows, just set it to the way YOU work not the way it wants to run. I choose to run the updates, and yes I run them all, but only when I am done with the pc for the day. |
