Vista - windows update has somehow affected installation of hp printer dri

I had to uninstall my hp 1317 all in one today.
I have a media center m7630.uk running home premium.
This printer has worked perfectly until today so i uninstalled it and now
for the fifth time of trying it will not install the printer core driver
package.
vista will not recognise the printer anymore.
i am installing the full version software from hp`s web site but reading
others problems on here lately it is obviously an issue with a windows update
that has affected all people trying to install hp printers.
Any help please?

I have a similar problem with HP 1317 and Vista. I can scan, but can't
print, and I have a print job permanently stuck in the print queue - even
rebooting doesn't clear it. Anyone got any ideas as to clearing the print
queue, and does anyone have a working Vista driver for HP 1317?
