I wouldn't bet on it fixing anything that goes wrong and it could break
a few things that work so I would not try it as a cure for anything --
unless specifically mentioned in its Readme file.

I can't think of a quick answer as to why it should not print photos.

What software did you install? From a CD or downloaded from the HP
website? How is the device connected to the PC? USB?

What version of VISTA are you using?
I am using Vista Home Premium. I downloaded the most vrevent version from HP's website just a few days ago. The device is attached via USB.

Did you disconnect the USB cable from the printer to the PC at the PC
end before you installed the software from HP? That is essential for
USB connected devices especially if there is a generic or simplified
driver in the operating system package already. If there is then
Windows grabs control and installs that instead of the newer one from
HP.

Do disconnect the USB cable from the PC, delete any icons for the
printer that shows in Printers / Folders or elsewhere, uninstall any HP
Software relating to the printer using Control Panel / Remove Programs,
and then reboot the PC.

To reinstall the HP software, locate the file you downloaded:

AIO_CDB_Full_Network_enu.exe (163.07M)

RIGHT mouse click on it and select Run as Administrator in the context
menu that comes up and OK your way out until it starts installing.

Don't connect the USB cable until the installation procedure tells you
to or you reach [Finish].

It can often help to disable any antivirus program and firewall program
you may have before starting the installation, but don't forget to re-
enable them again afterwards!

Note that the VISTA Home Premium does not include the VISTA Fax and
Scan Utility so you will have to rely on HP's or another third party
application to achieve this.

But let's cross that bridge when you get there!

Still no luck - I tried hooking this u to another computer and same problem (Vista also) With all the printer sales recently, I may just relegate myself to another printer. Its just too bad as this one worked great!

I am still open to ideas

I'm sorry I can't try to help you any more since you just do not answer
the questions I ask in order to understand what is happening.

Good luck.

Thanks. I actually did answer your questions, just not one by one... I tried disconnecting the USB doing a complete uninstall, then a reinstall using the newest update from the HP website. I also tried it again using the Run As command. My account is the Computer Administrator anyway. I also disabled the Windows firewall and my Antivirus (AVG) and also SpySweeper. I also went an additional step and uninstalled Adobe Photoshop elements in case there was a conflict...

Re: Can print documents, but not photos? Help please.

Hmm...I'm having this exact problem. It was working great then just stopped wanting to print pictures. For me it seemed to stop working after I installed the latest HP software/drivers that I downloaded a few days ago. All other types of documents print fine. No errors. I tried doing an uninstall of the software and went back to the old drivers I had, and that didn't help. There has to be a fix for this?

I hope someone can help you sort this out. It's frustrating when something
just stops working.

Any solutions... I've been experiencing similar problem too. Some HP Photopapers do work, some do not. I've experienced the same problem before/after SP1. I blame HP VIsta version of their software. very buggy.

I believe I have a solution for a network connected 2610. Similar may work with a USB connected but I have not confirmed. 1) Run services.msc (you may have to enable the run option from the menu since it’s not available by default in Vista). Find ‘HP Network Devices Support’ and double click on it. Set the Startup type to Disabled and click on “Stop” to stop the service. Click OK and closed Services. 2) Set the to 2610 to a static IP on from the physical printer. 3) From the Vista control panel select printers and delete the 2610. 4) Add a new printer. Select network printer and enter the IP selected above.

After doing this I was able to print document and photos and scan; however, the HP Solution Center will not launch. Since I do everything I want from third party software I don’t care about the HP Solution Center.
