| Guest | Fax...Initial Setup Hi: I have an HP dv6500z notebook running Windows Vista Home premium 32-bit. This laptop cames with a buil-in fax/modem. I am trying to use the faxing capability but cannot find any application to run. Windows is suppose to have this. HP told me to downlaod/install SoftPaq 37725. I have a successful install, but I still do not have any fax program to run. Please advise... Thank you... DaleB |

Can you use some other software like the various packages that may be bundled with your scanner or printer to fax documents? |

Vista has fax support only in the Business, Enterprise, and Ultimate editions. You don't have it. You have the following three choices: 1. Upgrade to Business or Ultimate. 2. Buy third-party fax software. 3. Buy a stand-alone fax machine. Choice number 3 is what I think works the best for most people. My fax machine cost me only $20 US, on sale. -- Ken Blake, Microsoft MVP Windows - Shell/User Please Reply to the Newsgroup |
