Canon printers not compatible with Remote Desktop

According to Canon Tech Support--spoke to the manager -- no Canon Printer is compatible with XP Pro's and Vista Business's Remote Desktop. Since their printer drivers are made in Japan, the manager of inkjet support told me all he could do was forward my request to the highest level here in America with the suggestion of supporting the Remote desktop.

I even tried Black Ice's Print2XP (the cost is over $100 and no phone support) which is supposed to create a virtual printer days ago but cannot get it to work --their email tech support has not answered in 4 days.

Does anyone know a way to get my PC at work which uses Vista Business to list my Canon Printer so I am able to print documents that are on my work machine and on my Novell Network of which I am the Admin? My home machine has XP Pro.

When I had the Epson 980 Printer, using Windows 2000 at home and XP Pro at work, the printer was recognized on my work PC and I had no problems printing.

Thanks in advance,

B.S.

You already got an answer in the other newsgroup to which you posted.
Multiposting like this won't get you a better answer here.

If the mftr. doesn't support what you want to do and the third-party program
you tried doesn't work, then you can't do what you'd like with this printer
and this operating system (Vista). End of story. Move on.

Here is information explaining the difference between crossposting (good)
and multiposting (bad):

Re: Canon printers not compatible with Remote Desktop

Mr. Malke, MS-MVP,

You as an MVP should know better than to be sarcastic. Aren't you here to help us? Please don't tell me where to post when there are No forums or Newsgroups that I can find about Remote Desktop Issues.

I am working from home with a new printer, my old one never having this issue, and am desperate to find a solution. Just because some people say there are no solutions, why should I settle for that quick response. Just maybe there are people out there, who have experience with canon printers and found a work around. You don't know that and I don't. Why are you such a defeatist? I just posted last night, never expecting a response from 3 people so soon. There have been many times over the years that I received responses after waiting a long time.

I just picked the newsgroups and forums that I felt may be relevant to my query! If people don't want to answer me that's their right.

Lastly, I have been looking for a solution for over a week now and am exhausted and I really didn't expect your type of response which I have never received as long as I have used these venues.

Re: Canon printers not compatible with Remote Desktop

oh...that explains it. The instructions I gave were for Windows Mail.
I'll have to update my instructions. Thanks for the feedback.
