Vista Crashing on Start-up, Need Help

Hello, I am having a rather large problem with Windows Vista right now. I
have an idea what the problem is, but windows wont let me boot up long enough
to fix it, and I cant seem to access the problem in safe mode. At least I
cant find anyway to access it from safe mode at this point, I tried to get my
lexmark x73 printer up and running a few days ago, so this time I tried
setting it up with the a windows program for scanners and printers that came
with windows. So, it was not already listed as an available printer so I had
to choose it. I cant remember the exact details but one way or another it
started searching the printer for its driver, and suddenly I get the Blue
Screen of Death, compiling for a crash or something was written at the bottom
counting its way to 100. I found the name of my printers driver written in
the crash window. Now, every time I boot up, it crashes before I can get boot
up into my user file. Someone please help, any help will be much appreciated.
Wiping the system wont be an issue because I have my files backed up on a
different operating system, but I'd rather not because them Ill have to wipe
the boot loader and I wont be able to boot into my Linux operating system
which is on an external hard drive.

Hello,

Since a system restore can't be done, the next step would be to attempt to repair the system files. You do this by booting from the Vista DVD and repair system files.

See if that helps your situation.
