| | UAC and Printing So long as UAC is disabled, I can print to my ethernet connected network printa from Vista Ultimate. However, if UAC is enabled, I can no longer print and no Permission dialog comes up. I need to use my printer from several applications. Is it possible to leave UAC enabled AND print? |

| | Re: UAC and Printing Yes. This is the default configuration and it works in most cases. I know Konica Minolta has some drivers that write to the system temp directory instead of the user temp directory so the work around is to disable UAC until the new driver is ready. Other vendor may have the same security requirements. I remember HP had a laptop configuration that locked out some directories that prevented printing but I don't recall the laptop model. -- Alan Morris Windows Printing Team Search the Microsoft Knowledge Base here: http://support.microsoft.com/search/?adv=1 This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights. | | Re: UAC and Printing Thank you for your help. I contacted Konica Minolta and received advice on fixing the problem [see http://onlinehelp.kmprinters.com/CPDocs/q0108004.htm]. They advised me to change the security for my user account on my Windows/Temp directory to include "write". I did this, and I now can print with UAC enabled, but it takes three minutes from the time I click print until the printing starts on my ethernet connected 2300DL. With UAC disabled, printing starts immediately. Can you help me solve the 3 minute delay problem? "Alan Morris [MSFT]" wrote: Quote: > Yes. | | Re: UAC and Printing Well I'm glad my wild guess on print models panned out for you. I have no clue on the delay. -- Alan Morris Windows Printing Team Search the Microsoft Knowledge Base here: http://support.microsoft.com/search/?adv=1 This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights.
