still trying to install my AIO

Hi All,

On my last post(Would installing Vista Ultimate allow me to use my
scanner?) we left it at well,,,yea, maybe.

Tried to use the VueScan program, but does ;not support my Dell AIO
964. In the meantime, computer started to act up even more,,,not albe
to get it to lock in a a restore point, actually, couldn't even find
the drives to create a restore point in, windows updates couldn't
install, had shut down and start up problems. So,,,reinstalled the OS
from the Dell recovery option on the start up..What a difference!

I was able to install my AIO a bit further, it scans, but shows
nothing and then the program locks up.

Any ideas? I am about out of patience,,,any recomendations on a new
photo scanner that will work in the $100 price range would be greatly
appreciated.

Supposedly current Vista drivers(2007), and firmware update(circa 2005)

If VueScan does not support, I'd really consider getting another all in
one.

You may need to see if Dell has an "uninstall utility that cleans up the
previous install attempts.

Last November, I bought an HP laptop, and, with various rebates and
discounts, ended up with a "free" Cannon MP160.
At least it's supported in Vista.

Thanks for the feedback. I have used the Dell Cleanup Utility many
times, and reinstalled the drivers many times. After reinstalling
Vista through Dell Recovery, I was able to install the correct drivers
and the scanner actually scanned, but nothing showed up on preview and
the scanner became stalled on the scanning mode. The Dell AIO
program stopped responding and the "Windows Picture Acquisition
Wizard" stopped responding and was closed.

As for buying another AIO, as this one works fine stand alone, I am
really in the market for just a picture scanner , around $100, that
works with Vista Premium. Any input on this would be greatly
appreciated.
