| | Can no longer hear WFS dialling This is only a minor irritation as WFS still works perfectly well. I wonder why my fax card's built-in speaker no longer emits any sound when I'm sending a fax - I used to be able to hear it dialling. I've tried Googling the issue and apart from a few people saying that they vaguely remember the issue and seeing a fix for it which they've long forgotten, I still haven't actually found a fix. The card is obviously still working as I can send and receive faxes and sounds are all on as per the options/settings, although I doubt that Windows Sounds settings have anything to bear on a card's built-in speaker. It's a Hiro 56K V.92 PCI Modem which shows in Vista as an Agere Soft Modem. I get the same problem in both XP and Vista by the way. The speaker worked for a while and then just stopped. Any ideas anyone? -- Peter Toronto, Canada XP Pro SP2 x 2/Vista Ultimate SP1 Triple Boot |

| | Re: Can no longer hear WFS dialling That's a reflection of right-clicking Modems in device manager and I get the same...Volume slider is just around the ¾ mark. -- Peter Toronto, Canada XP Pro SP2 x 2/Vista Ultimate SP1 Triple Boot "Hal Hostetler [MVP P/I]" <hhh@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:eA3rvrPmIHA.4684@xxxxxx Quote: > 'Control panel|Phone and Modem Options|Modems|Properties', make sure the > speaker volume slider is turned up on the "Modem" tab of the properties > sheet. > > Hal > -- > Hal Hostetler, CPBE -- hhh@xxxxxx > Senior Engineer/MIS -- MS MVP-Print/Imaging -- WA7BGX > http://www.kvoa.com -- "When News breaks, we fix it!" > KVOA Television, Tucson, AZ. | | RE: Can no longer hear WFS dialling Since this is occuring in both XP and Vista, it is possible that the speaker has died, unfortunately. -- Paul "Peter" wrote: Quote: > This is only a minor irritation as WFS still works perfectly well. | | Re: Can no longer hear WFS dialling That's what I figured. Strange. The manufacturer offered to replace it but it's hardly worth the bother just for that, and if it is that, it's most likely it would happen again. Thanks guys. -- Peter Toronto, Canada XP Pro SP2 x 2/Vista Ultimate SP1 Triple Boot "PaulB" <PaulB@xxxxxx> wrote in message news 737B131-C2B4-4168-AE8D-C7C48B158273@xxxxxxQuote: > Since this is occuring in both XP and Vista, it is possible that the > speaker > has died, unfortunately. > -- > Paul > > > "Peter" wrote: > Quote: >> This is only a minor irritation as WFS still works perfectly well.
