Re: connecting to a network printer

the modem is acting as my router, the PC goes into the modem, the switch is
wired into the modem and the switch picks up the everthing in the house i.e
the printer

Re: connecting to a network printer

Something (usually a router) has to assign a TCP/IP address to the printer.
I have no idea whether your modem can do such a thing. If it can, you
simply install the ip4000 as a network printer.

If it's got no TCP/IP address, then you're very stuck. I cannot magically
make a modem perform DHCP if it's not in its firmware.

Re: connecting to a network printer

Possibly he means a modem/router/switch/WAP similar to the Netgear DG834GV
