unable to add printer

I am using Vista 32Bit Home premium. I am logged in as administrator. File and
Printer sharing is turned on.

I want to add a printer to share from another vista home premium computer.

When I go to Start printers and right click and select "Add Printer," I
get the following error:

"This operation has been cancelled due to restrictions in effect on this
computer. Please contact your system administrator."

I have no idea what to do next.

I found this on a similar thread the answer gpedit.msc did not help me because it is for ultimate.
I have tried to find the answer and so far no go. How do I get rid of the restriction in vista so I can add a printer?

Thank you
SG

Re: unable to add printer

I assume you did not only set file and print sharing on on the printers pc
and your logged on with administrative privileges, but also did
start-control panel-classic view-printers-run as
administrator-properties-sharing tab and enabled the sharing (this on PC)
noted the pcname and printersharename and on the laptop start-control
panel-classic view-printers-right click on blank area-run as
administrator-add printer then performed the add network printer?

Re: unable to add printer

Hi Patrick: Sorry to say that administrator is not available to me in the instructions you gave, though I am logged in as administrator. When I check I have an administrator account. What am I missing? You guessed right I am trying to share a printer from a pc to a laptop both are vista home premium with sp1 installed. Thanks for your input. SG

Re: unable to add printer

Hi all. Well I finally found the answer. I found another person on the net who had the same problem and someone posted and gave the answer. That person had uac off like me and the answer given was. You cannot install a network shared printer with uac off. So I turned it back on and it worked. Hope this helps someone.
