| vista home premium 32bit | Cannot set default printer in Vista Hi, I am in the middle of a support case with Microsoft, unfortunately this one is slow to response, I was unable to uninstall a couple of programs saying I did not have permission and so on , when I contact Microsoft he told me to type in regedit and delete Microsoft, something weird happened and I still cannot uninstall and all my programs got messed up, but I cannot even use my printer, when I try to set it as default in all areas it does nothing, any help would be much appreciated. Thank You. Lori |

| | Re: Cannot set default printer in Vista You have two choices here, wait for the response from the Microsoft tech in the support issue or decide to do a format and clean install. Without knowing what the tech asked you to do and exactly what you did, I'm not prepared to step in the middle of an already confusing situation. -- Cari (MS-MVP) Printing & Imaging www.coribright.com/windows "ldmercer2" <guest@xxxxxx-email.com> wrote in message news:b2ce92f5c00ebdd0cdbe6853ba8de9ee@xxxxxx-gateway.com... Apparently that did not work as he had hoped and he HOPEFULLY is researching your problem further. Is the printer a local or network printer? If local can you select the printer from the drop down list when you click print? If network can you even see it over the network? As for deleting programs unfortuantely mroe and more Companies feel their software is indespensible to us and are making it ahrder and harder to delete them! Norton/Symantec is bad for this!!! |

| vista home premium 32bit | Re: Cannot set default printer in Vista Hi, thank you for replying, I am a little nervous and feel this must be serious as no one wants to touch it!! I just this morning finally heard back from the tech who said he was giving it to a higher authority and will get back in 72 hrs!! When I click the print , it comes up, but my printer is not one of the printers listed, any help on how to get my printer back?? Thank you so much. Lori |

| | RE: Cannot set default printer in Vista Explanation: I had done a Windows Restore to get rid of some Canon Scanner software that just wouldn't go away. Well, my administrative profile got corrupted, to the point where I could no longer set my default printer, nor would Adobe software (Reader and InDesign) recognize that I even had a printer. Solution: I created a new administrative account, with every intention of deleting my old administrative account, just as soon as I feel confident that I copied all of my files over to this profile's folders. Note: I have not discovered a way to delete the old corrupted administrative profile.
