Lexmark 3350-Vista-Prints but Won't Scan

Just got new Vista(32)Premium (Presario sr5505f) added extra ram right off the bat (only at 2.5g tho)
I installed vista driver from " Windows Vista -- Lexmark United States " sixth link down (did not use CD, doesn't support Vista)...it prints...won't scan...so...uninstalled, ran clean up utility from Lexmark and reinstalled again as administrator...same problem. Plus under Maintain/Troubleshoot >>>troubleshooting everything is greyed out and cannot be clicked on.
Also Printer status window hangs after printing and has to be ended in Task Manager.
This thing worked great with XP...Is this Vista problem?
Been all over googling for a solution.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Lexmark 3350-Vista-Prints but Won't Scan

Resolved the problem myself . I'm not exactly sure what I did "did it", but here it is, hope it helps others with same problem. (seems there are a lot)
1. The clean up utility does not get everything. I checked every folder in registry and found the reg key:
( HKEY_CURRENT_CONFIG - CurrentControlSet - Control - Print - Printers - Lexmark 3300 Series) Deleted it. Rebooted.
2. I disabled UAC, as someone else suggested in another post. Reboot again.
3. I found another site for drivers. Same name and size tho. Probably didn’t matter. Lexmark X3350 Driver v.1.0.6.1 download for Windows Vista
4. I plugged USB back in before starting the new driver download, rather than waiting for the window that says "make sure USB is connected and printer on”.
5. Installed new driver "As Administor". Rebooted.
6. Went to: c:\drivers\printer\3300 (type in search and click on 3300) and gave full permissions to all folders. Rebooted. This may of been the solution, but status window was still hanging.
7. Also (not promoting any product, just heard of it myself) downloaded a program called "AntiFreeze". Runs in the background, seems to help the hang up issues and may actually give the scanner more RAM to work with. (as always any program downloaded from anywhere is done at your own risk)
8. I "WILL" be putting another 2G of RAM in this baby soon, upping it to it’s max of 4G. The Lexmark AIOC uses a ton of RAM. I have absolutely no idea why they sell Vista with only 1G.
9. We have scanned and saved a couple of dozen pictures today for a Very Merry Christmas.
