Having Vista X64 & terminal services printing error- found available hotfix for SERVER OS--

So, I'm running terminal services under a basic XP machine to connect to my
vista 64 workhorse.

I use terminal services (AKA remote desktop) all day long- the vista machine
is relatively new.

I am having the EXACT problem described in knowledgebase article
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/831754

"You receive an error message when you try to print to a shared network
printer in a terminal server session"

and it even has a downloadable hotfix... but it is ONLY for server OS's

I know under XP64 (which my last workhorse ran) the codebase was server 2003
based...
and lots of drivers and other items for server2003 could be applied
(with great trepidation) to XP64..

Anyone have any thoughts on if this hotfix can/shoul be applied to a vista
ultimate x64 installation safely?

or an alternative?
