| | Solution to Brother HL 1440 Vista X64 network driver problem It took me several hours to figure out. Hope it's useful to other people. I'm pretty sure Vista RTM doesn't have HL 1440 network printer driver, although it does have driver for local printer. I found out the brother driver for XP X64 works on Vista, well, sort of. First download the driver from brother website. Unzip it. Then install network printer from control panel. When asked for inf file from (unknown), select the folder where the driver is unzipped Driver will be installed. Then Vista may complain that the spool servie is having problem and is shut down. Goto services to restart the spooler service or reboot windows. Then you can use the printer to print. |

| Vista Home Premium & Ultimate | ?? when you said it will said the service will say it shut down .... will this happen EVERY day / every time i print / every time i reboot my computer ... i dont want to install anything unless i know i wont have continued problems has there been an alternative for this problem yet a better fix ?? |
