| | Re: Duplex printing bug head to toe - HP printer I _had_ the same issue with my HP7410 printer and Vista. Called HP support and was told that since my printer was out of warranty, I would have to pay to speak with them. After 3 worthless chat sessions with HP support - uninstall/reinstall software, reset printer (requiring a reentry of the WiFi WEP codes, etc), and installing a patch that was intended to keep network printers visible in the printer selection on Vista - none of these "solutions" did anything except waste my time. I searched for this issue online and located this forum. I found a link to 'Bob' who had a patch for this issue. I contacted Bob (see info below) and he promptly sent me an e-mail with the patch and detailed instructions to install it. Voila!!! In less than 5 minutes I am now able to print in duplex with the 2nd page oriented correctly!!!! Contact Bob Headrick (see post dated 17-07-2008 10:46 AM in this forum) at bobh@xxxxxx and put Vista Duplex and the printer model in the subject line. Within a few hours, you will receive the patch and in a few minutes you will be printing again! Thanks Bob! Really appreciate the help. -Herschel -- hjrw ------------------------------------------------------------------------ hjrw's Profile: http://forums.techarena.in/members/94440.htm View this thread: http://forums.techarena.in/vista-print-fax/684361.htm http://forums.techarena.in |

| | Re: Duplex printing bug head to toe - HP printer One more note to extend a BIG thanks to Bob for his patch. I have an OfficeJet 7410 that had the same problem. When it was hooked up to my new Vista laptop, the duplex printing stopped working. I found instructions for switching two sided printing capability from "uninstalled" to "installed." Two sided printing started working, but the second page was flipped upside down. Bob's patch was easy to install and has completely fixed my problem. I do want to share that when I first implemented Bob's fix, two sided printing worked immediately, but printing to the OfficeJet became extremely sluggish (five minutes plus just to select that printer and select two sided printing). Rebooting didn't help. Finally, I uninstalled the printer and re-installed the driver thinking that I would have to repeat Bob's patch. To my pleasant surprise, the re-load fixed everything and there was no need to re-do Bob's patch. Printer has worked great now for over two weeks. | | Re: Duplex printing bug head to toe - HP printer Maybe not the right thread to post this problem, because my problem is with XP and not Vista My company uses standard HP MFP 4345 printers and have problems with duplex printing. The second page that is printed is the wrong way up. I use the standard printing quickset for duplex printing. I see that there are a lot of people with this kind of problem. The configuration of the clients are: Windows XP with SP3 Office 2003 with SP3 Printserver is Windows Server 2003 R2 The strange thing is that this problem doesn't occur with all of the documents they want to print on both sides. It's not in de setting of the document either because when i print this on another type of printer it's working fine. This is what we have done already: - Switched print drivers to PCL5 / 6 or the universal print driver. - Created a new printqueue - Replace duplex kit on printer. Installed latest firmware. Does anyone have more suggestions, our print supplier isn't a big help so i'm trying another approach. -- reneetje1981 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ reneetje1981's Profile: http://forums.techarena.in/members/130605.htm View this thread: http://forums.techarena.in/vista-print-fax/684361.htm http://forums.techarena.in |
