Re: Duplex printing bug head to toe - HP printer

I just finished a chat with HP support. While he wouldn't acknowledge the bug in the 6100 driver, he did have me install the Deskjet 6500 series driver in which the duplexing works right.

1. add printer - hp - officejet 6500 series
2. install as lpt1 for now. Finish the driver wizard.
3. Open printer properties as administrator and change the port to the usb port the 6100 driver setup.

Print to the 6500 driver it will duplex right. Hope this helps.

Re: Duplex printing bug head to toe - HP printer

If I had wanted to manually print two-sided, I wouldn't have bought the
duplexer - which worked before I started using Vista. I can't afford a new
printer, so WHEN will a WORKING patch be available? The 6500 driver is no
help is solving the upside down back page!

As Mr. Morris told you, this is up to HP. They are the ones who write the
drivers for their hardware and *no one* else. I understand that you are
frustrated and irritated, but you should be focusing that frustration and
irritation where it belongs: on HP. Contact them.

Re: Duplex printing bug head to toe - HP printer

Bob,

Thanks for the patch. It works great on my HP OfficeJet 6110with the
duplexor. No more printing the "Flip Page" (or head to toe) option all
the time.
Thanks,
Joe

Re: Duplex printing bug head to toe - HP printer

Had the same issue with the 7310 flipping the pages in duplex, two-sided
mode. Alan sent me his patch -- a single "gpd" file that replaces the
existing 7310 gpd file. Relatively painless once you know where to
place the file (and stop/restart the spooling service)

Thanks Alan!

Re: Duplex printing bug head to toe - HP printer

Looks like I declared success too soon. The gpd changeout worked.
However, I found last night that HP Solution Center refuses to open
because it can't find the printer. Also, the printer has disappeared
from the computer's list of printers. I have no reason to believe the
gpd change caused this. If anyone has advice, I'd appreciate it.

RE: Duplex printing bug head to toe - HP printer

The HP solution is to install a "temporary print driver...until HP finds a
permanent solution." Instructions are posted here:
