| | Print Finisher I installed Vista Home Edition Premium last night. Today I cannot tell our network printer to staple my print jobs like I could under XP. The system gives me an error prompt that I'm missing a print finisher. I can't find reference to anything like this in the help ..... does anyone have a clue? |

Did you install Vista drivers for your printer? What does the printer mftr.'s tech support say? Malke -- Elephant Boy Computers www.elephantboycomputers.com "Don't Panic!" | | Re: Print Finisher Ok. I didn't get any errors on the Vista install, and I can print to the printer, including print double-sided. It only seems to have a prob w/the stapler. Are you thinking there's a separate driver for that component of the printer. And no, I haven't contacted the printer tech support yet. At this point it seemed like a Vista issue, but I guess I could go that route & see what they say? "Malke" wrote: > jm wrote: > > I installed Vista Home Edition Premium last night. Yes, I assumed that since your network printer can do such fancy jobs as stapling and double-sided printing that its drivers provide those capabilities. If you used printer drivers that were included with Vista, they may be basic ones without the extended capabilities. I would check on the printer mftr.'s website for updated printers and/or check with their tech support. Malke -- Elephant Boy Computers www.elephantboycomputers.com "Don't Panic!" | | Re: Print Finisher You may need to go into the driver and specify what device options are available on the printer. Often, the driver assumes a bare printer, and you need to tell it about additional options which are installed, like additional paper trays, finishers, duplexers, hard disks, additional memory etc etc. If the tab to specify the hardware configuration is not available, it may be because the driver bundled with Vista is rather basic and not full-featured. You will need to obtain and install the full-featured Vista driver if and when the printer manufacturer provides it. -- Ron "jm" <jm@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:BA54CB5B-CA15-4400-BD71-6F243CF733EC@microsoft.com... > Ok.
