| Guest | Printing from XP to a shared printer on Vista Ultimate 64 bit I have a HP LJ1220 attached to a machine running Vista Ultimate 64 Bit edition. I have shared the printer, but cannot seem to install additional drivers to support the 32 bit XP machine. I have downloaded the latest XP drivers from HP, PCL 5e, PCL 6 and PS, but the vista machine refuses to accept them. |

| Guest | Re: Printing from XP to a shared printer on Vista Ultimate 64 bit the easiest way is to install them remotely using the XP machine with admin access to the x64 machine. I spoke with Bruce at the MVP conference last week and he said he'd update his site with Vista instructions but here are a couple solutions using XP interface but it is nearly identical. http://members.shaw.ca/bsanders/AddDrivertoOldOS.htm http://members.shaw.ca/bsanders/NetPrinterNoPP.htm -- Alan Morris Windows Printing Team Search the Microsoft Knowledge Base here: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=fh;[ln];kbhowto This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties, and confers no rights. | Guest | shared printer??? Ihave a canom mp150 and they emailed me this.... Canon does not support the MP150 printer when connected within a network environment because of possible communications issues. The MP150 is a bidirectional printer but the bidirectional communications is not guaranteed to function when communicating through network components such as routers and print servers. You may not be able to collect status information from the printer unless it is connected directly to the computer. This is not to say that the printer will not function in a network environment, just that it is not supported. Canon only supports the MP150 when connected directly to the computer with a USB cable. If you do network the MP150, you may get the printer to work but to scan the MP150 would need to be connected directly to the computer with the USB cable. I hope this information is helpful to you. Please let us know if we can be of any further assistance with your Canon MP150. Thank you for choosing Canon. Sincerely, Bobby Technical Support Representative Special Note: Certain issues are very difficult to resolve via email. If your question remains unanswered after you have received this email, you may call our special toll-free number for email customers with unresolved issues and speak to a technician* by dialing 1-866-261-9362, Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 midnight ET, and Saturday 10:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. ET (excluding holidays). | Guest | Re: shared printer??? Canon do not support ANY printer when connected over a network. That doesn't mean it won't work, it just means their customer support folks are not trained in any networking issues. It's also not specific to Canon. Nearly all of the printer manufacturers will tell you the same thing. Hopefully this may change in the future. -- Cari (MS-MVP) Windows Technologies - Printing & Imaging http://www.coribright.com/windows "Sean" <seanadamberger@comcast.net> wrote in message news:B05234C5-FB74-4952-88A1-19A28B24C870@microsoft.com... > Ihave a canom mp150 and they emailed me this.... > Canon does not support the MP150 printer when connected within a network > environment because of possible communications issues.
