| | Dell Photo AIO Printer 942 "Communication not Available" Hi, I just downloaded & installed the new Vista 32 bit drivers for my Dell 942 All-In-one Photo. The software installed fine, I can control the printer from the Dell "All-In-One Center" (make it copy, scan etc..) but when I try to print a test page from control panel or any other application, I get the popup saying "Communication not Available". I have done: 1. Tried multiple USB cables (all cables are fine) 2. Tried communicating with the device from the Dell Software (can make it scan, copy) 3. Turned off the Windows Firewall stuff (still no good) 4. Removed & reinstalled the device drivers many times (still no good) 5. Called Dell - Definately no good. 6. Called ACER (maker of my new Vista enabled laptop) - also no good. 7. Called MS - they wanted $80 to trouble shoot it cos I have an OEM version not a paid for over the counter version... (personally I call $2000+ for a new laptop with Vista pre-intsalled - paid for) Any one got any suggestions before I go & buy a HP or roll back to XP ? Tony. |

| | Re: Dell Photo AIO Printer 942 "Communication not Available" Cari, all fixed. Someone on the DELL Forums posted their solution to their problem with the 922 AIO (http://www.dellcommunity.com/support...hread.id=19630) 1. I removed the printer. 2. Uninstalled the software. 3. Deleted the "C:\Windows\System32\Spool\Drivers\w32x86" folder (atually renamed it). 4. Reintsalled the Dell Al-In-One software. 5. Bingo. Thanks anyway - appreciate your assistance. T.
