Vista - Problem with vista and hp officejet 7100 all in one

hello. i have vista ultimate instaled on my pc, with hp officejet 7100
connected i got the vista "your device is ready to use" so that worked
perfectly. there was no extra software needed.

BUT, there is a conflict with the officejet vista's Printing Preferences
that i can not control the paper size and the "resizing options". I want to
use A4 paper, when i select it and then select "Actual Size", i and i save
the preferences i find that the paper size returned to Default (Letter).

on other printer i have (a canon), the vista's Printing Preferences Dialog
working perfectly, but for my officejet it seams there is conflict by its
design. can any one/ microsoft help?!
