Vista - Software Downloads (exes)

I recently "upgraded" to vista and have had a series of issues around using
the combination of adobe photoshop and epson v100 scanner.

1. every time I try and change the default file location for scanned
images, adobe falls over. I have the latest downloads 5.0.2. I have now
given up trying to scan with adobe as the primary application, and then tried
to use the epson software - but -

2. each time I down load a file from adobe or epson, and then try and run
the file, I get the error message (file location not valid)

In case it helps anyone else, I also found that the nvidia graphics card
wasn;t working after the install - I found an update on nvidia site
