Vista - Spooler Error - Removing Printer Drivers

I am currently running Windows Vistas Ultimate and am having trouble with the
printer spooler crashing. I have identified the printer causing the problem
(its a Toshiba e studio 281C) but I cannot remove the printers. I have tried
restarting the spooler and then attempting to delete the printer from the
printers control pannel and it just crashed the spooler again. I have also
tried to delete the printer from the File -> Server Properties menu after
restarting the spooler but when I click on the driver to be removed the
remove button is "grayed" out.

Any suggestions on how to remove the printer so that I can attempt to
install another driver for it. Or another printer altogether?

printmanagement.msc

start the spooler
then quickly delete the associated printer and driver.

if the driver kills the spooler before you can accomplish this you will need
to remove it from the registry
