| | Missing manual recipient input fields? - 2nd Request Why aren't there manual input fields for the recipient's company name and fax number in the SEND dialog in Windows Vista Fax and Scan? As per online help, the user should be able to manually send a fax to a person not listed in their address book, however the standard send dialog is missing the key fields mentioned above. Furthermore, pressing the SEND button displays a 'Check Names' dialog showing that the person is not found in the address book. The recipient company name and phone number are critical fields that should be allowed both in the cover page design and in the cover page fill-in dialog when sending a fax. Any suggestions in this regard? |

| | Re: Missing manual recipient input fields? - 2nd Request Sounds like you don't have this quite figured out. One-off faxing can use only the fax address. If you want the rest of the fields populated in your cover page, store your recipients in one of the databases WFS supports: Windows Contacts or Outlook. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Blue Max" <mailrichard@msn.com> wrote in message news:C970ABCC-2028-4923-AC07-98EF6654B961@microsoft.com... > Why aren't there manual input fields for the recipient's company name and > fax number in the SEND dialog in Windows Vista Fax and Scan? | | RE: Missing manual recipient input fields? - 2nd Request Blue Max This, I agree is a bad oversight from MSFT but you can get around it, in an irregular way. Open New Fax -> click 5th icon from left. This opens the manual fields you can enter information in. I tried it for you and used these settings to sort of give you what you wanted. Untick country code if sending within own country or leave it ticked to complete all fields. 1st field General Electric Co. Ltd. - Mr John Smith 2nd field after country code - 800 555 4598 When you preview the fax the cover page looks like this. Recipient: General Electric Co. Ltd. - Mr Smith<8005554598> Fax No.: 8005554598 etc, etc. It's not exactly what you wanted but it suffices in my country as an acceptable fax. -- regards '''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' "Blue Max" wrote: > Why aren't there manual input fields for the recipient's company name and > fax number in the SEND dialog in Windows Vista Fax and Scan? | | Re: Missing manual recipient input fields? - 2nd Request Thank you LoneWolf, this was a very respectable work-around! I am surprised, however, that Microsoft doesn't provide these fields right on the 'Send' dialog, especially in light of the fact that help indicates you can manually send a one-time fax to someone who is not in the address book. I liked your consolidaton of recipient name and company, but would prefer separate fields since cover pages can be designed to accept both items as separate variables. Once again, Microsoft leaves the customer to try and figure it out (no detailed instructions in help), while frustrating them with messages that warn of missing information. Thanks for the help! ****************** "LoneWolf" <LoneWolf@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news F81B7D0-894F-4323-B48B-42CB3A6D1BB7@microsoft.com...> Blue Max > > This, I agree is a bad oversight from MSFT but you can get > around it, in an irregular way. > > Open New Fax -> click 5th icon from left.
