fax and scan program does not work

My Vista Ultimate machine used to work for faxing. Recently it does not work
any more.

In the Fax and Scan window, when I click "New Fax" to start faxing, the
whole window turn grey and become inactive. The Error Massege was:

Micorsoft Windows Fax and Scan has stopped working.
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close
the program and notify you if a solution is available.

So far, this program is still not working.

Please help!

You're the only one who might have a clue. You were there. We weren't. What
steps produced this change? What do you see in Event viewer?

Did somebody knew how to solve this issue. I have exactly the same
problem

us about the issue you're having. Please include any error messages.

To say nothing of saying which version of VISTA you are using since not
all versions have the Fax & Scan utility in them.

What make and model is the printer/multifunction device? How is it
connected to the PC -- USB?
