| Guest | Windows Fax & Scan Automatic Receving I have followed all the instructions in windows help as I thought I'd gone mad trying to get windows fax & scan to automatically answer calls, however I have the fax account setup correctly, fax settings tell me it is set to automatically answer after 2 rings, but it doesn't. I will manually receive - however this is not much use when I am not in to answer it! Am I missing something really simple. I purchased Vista Ultimate after buying Home Basic only to learn that Microsoft in their greed or stupidity had removed Fax Console, and replaced it only in their Premium editions of Vista. What a great idea! However I thought the idea was to improve these programmes wasn't fax console so much easier??? Can anybody please help, or is the answer to get rid of Vista and go back to XP?? Thanks |

| Guest | Re: Windows Fax & Scan Automatic Receving Actually WFS is proving to be far more reliable than XP Fax was. Have you tried the basics like trying to increase the number of rings? Have you looked for error messages or Event viewer? Have you verified that your modem is on the VHCL? -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Spiller" <Spiller@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:BF41F677-01A5-4A2C-B6EA-DB74998C1866@microsoft.com... >I have followed all the instructions in windows help as I thought I'd gone > mad trying to get windows fax & scan to automatically answer calls, > however I > have the fax account setup correctly, fax settings tell me it is set to > automatically answer after 2 rings, but it doesn't. | Guest | Re: Windows Fax & Scan Automatic Receving Hi, I have tried increasing and decreasing number of rings, and queried the modem in device manager, which seems ok, I am not getting any error messages - what do you mean by event viewer??? I am able to send faxes and receive faxes manually so it shouldnt be a compatibility problem should it? My modem is being detected as Agere Win Modem, and before I upgraded I did run a compability check and all my hardware apart from my sound card (which is now fine) was okay. My modem though is a Hayes V92 Accura PCI Modem, should it be detecting as Agere Win Modem ? It does say that it is working properly in device manager! | Guest | Re: Windows Fax & Scan Automatic Receving I asked if it exists on the VHCL. Most WinModems do not. Only if your modem is on the VHCL would it be supported by WFS. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Spiller" <Spiller@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news BB134F6-9F88-497A-AC72-4CD68E26C77D@microsoft.com...> Hi, > > I have tried increasing and decreasing number of rings, and queried the > modem in device manager, which seems ok, I am not getting any error > messages > - what do you mean by event viewer??? | Guest | Re: Windows Fax & Scan Automatic Receving Sorry Russ, now I am really confused. My modem is working with WFS, I CAN accept faxes manually, and I can send faxes, I CAN'T receive faxes automatically, if my modem was not supported by WFS surely it would not do anything!!! | Guest | Re: Windows Fax & Scan Automatic Receving You don't say what make and model AIO this is but in dealing with another query relating to a Lexmark x5470 AIO there is an on/off setting for auto-answer. Have you located this setting to see if it is OFF or ON? |

| Guest | Re: Windows Fax & Scan Automatic Receving You are quite confused. The fact that you can receive a fax proves nothing. Just look at the VHCL and answer my question once and for all. -- Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook] "Spiller" <Spiller@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:E177F8D6-315A-41C6-9E1D-B36351D8DC0B@microsoft.com... > Sorry Russ, now I am really confused. > > My modem is working with WFS, I CAN accept faxes manually, and I can send > faxes, I CAN'T receive faxes automatically, if my modem was not supported > by > WFS surely it would not do anything!!! > > "Russ Valentine [MVP-Outlook]" wrote: > >> I asked if it exists on the VHCL.
