| | Fax & scan - Hanging up a call from a user account? Hello, Using Vista's fax & scan we tried hanging up on a call (it wasn't a fax on the other end), but it won't let us. It wanted administrator rights, but it won't even offer entering the password, like when installing something. How can I give that right without sacrificing security |

| | RE: Fax & scan - Hanging up a call from a user account? The issue obviously refers to a regular non-administrative user account. As I wrote in the subject line. | | Re: Fax & scan - Hanging up a call from a user account? We've never changed that, so it must be the default - for "Everybody" only the special permissions is checked, the first 3 are unchecked. I've been looking for information on what each grants, but I couldn't find anything. I'm completely clueless about them. We can fax and receive as it is, without them being checked. Any clue what they grant? | | Re: Fax & scan - Hanging up a call from a user account? I don't really need them changing the settings. Just being able to hang up on a call that isn't even from a fax machine. I was wondering if there is any documentation of what each option allows. So that I don't over grant them permissions that would change things for other users. | | Re: Fax & scan - Hanging up a call from a user account? (I got this information from Asing, the guy who owns the fax side of WFS) Hanging up requires the "Manage Server Recieve Folder" permission, which is not granted to everyone by default. To workaround this: 1. Go to [Windows Fax and Scan/Tools/Fax Settings] 2. In the [Security] page, click on "Advanced" 3. In the [Permissions] page, select "INTERACTIVE", and click [Edit] 4. Check Allow for "Manage Server Receive folder", and press [OK] 5. Press [OK] until returning to WFS. Users should be able to hang up phone now. Let us know if this works for you.
