| | Internet Explorer 7 Does Not Allow Printing Okay, I just confirmed that my problem with printing a web page is Microsoft Explorer 7 under Vista Windows. You would think that since Microsoft owns Explorer 7 and Vista, that they would have been able to work together. Boy, what a mess. I just used Mozilla Firefox and I can print a web page with no problem. So, my question is, how do we get Explorer 7 fixed by Microsoft???? My printer is an HP Photosmart 8250 and prints all applications and prints Mozilla Firefox websites. So my conclusion is that it is not my printer. Any ideas??? -- eclecticats@verizon.net |

| | Re: Internet Explorer 7 Does Not Allow Printing Yes I did, but the Director Software is not listed for my HP Photosmart 8250. It is listed for a Multi Task printer that does Fax, Scan, Copy. Mine is a stand alone printer. That is why I did not download it. Also in a Chat with HP they never mentioned the Director Software for my problem. -- eclecticats@verizon.net "Cari (MS-MVP)" <Newsgroups1@coribright.com> wrote in message news:%238LwgdxwHHA.4588@TK2MSFTNGP03.phx.gbl... > Did you check the HP website for the updated drivers, in particular, the > updated HP Director software... it's this application that is at fault. > -- > Cari (MS-MVP) Windows Client - Printing & Imaging > www.coribright.com/Windows > > > "The Cat's Meow" <eclecticats@verizon.net> wrote in message > news:F94B7D29-D93F-4611-B3A9-7B5AD576B5E6@microsoft.com... >> Okay, I just confirmed that my problem with printing a web page is >> Microsoft Explorer 7 under Vista Windows. >> You would think that since Microsoft owns Explorer 7 and Vista, that they >> would have been able to work together. >> Boy, what a mess. >> >> I just used Mozilla Firefox and I can print a web page with no problem. >> >> So, my question is, how do we get Explorer 7 fixed by Microsoft???? >> >> My printer is an HP Photosmart 8250 and prints all applications and >> prints Mozilla Firefox websites. I have VISTA Ultimate, MSIE7 and the HP Photosmart 8250 printer and have no problems printing webpages. Could you repeat exactly what your problem is? I am not using the driver that is in VISTA out-of-the-box but: SF_CDD_Full_Non-Network_enu.exe 1/1 (67.39M) http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/s...DownloadIndex? os=2093&softwareitem=ps-48177-1&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&product=443024&lang=en so if you are not then I'd suggest uninstalling any HP Software you have installed for the printer, deleting any printer icons in Printing & Faxing, unplugging the USB cable from the PC and rebooting. Then still without plugging in the USB cable, install that Fully Featured software. Do not plug the USB cable to the printer in until you are told to by the installation routine or until you get to [Finish] or VISTA will fight with you to install its driver. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Installation Instructions (on the HP website Click the Download only button. Note: Make sure the printer is "Not" connected to the computer before running the download file. Click the Run button to begin the download. Note: File is compressed and may take time to expand and run. Follow the on-screen software installation instructions. Click Finish. Click This program installed correctly. Connect the USB cable between the printer and the computer, then turn on the printer. You may see messaging lower right corner of the screen indicating your product is being installed. Your product should be ready to print. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Have you checked out the Readme file that is installed? I suggest you do. There is some useful information on errors in documentation and where certain functions are actually located! I better print it out <g> Is the PS8250 your only printer? Make sure you have a printer set as default: ----------------------------------------------------------------------- To make the HP Photosmart the default printer (Windows Vista) On the Windows taskbar, click Start, and then click Control Panel. Click Printers. Right-click the HP Photosmart icon, and then click Set as default printer. Hope that helps -- please let us know how you get on. -------------------------------------------------------------------- If you have more than one printer installed make sure one of them is set as default. |

| | Re: Internet Explorer 7 Does Not Allow Printing If what you say is true, then how come it works for Mozilla Firefox? As I said before, when I bring up a web page that I want to print, I either use print preview or print. Neither works. It does not get to the print queue, it just disappears and the printer icon in taskbar shows that I executed the printer, except it has 0 documents. The icon does not include the 8250 because there is nothing in the queue. -- eclecticats@verizon.net "huwyngr" <Hugh_Wyn_Griffith@simpilot.net> wrote in message news:VA.00000450.007e8874@unspam.tampabay.rr.com... > In article <F94B7D29-D93F-4611-B3A9-7B5AD576B5E6@microsoft.com>, The > Cat's Meow wrote: > >> I just confirmed that my problem with printing a web page is Microsoft >> Explorer 7 under Vista Windows. > > I have VISTA Ultimate, MSIE7 and the HP Photosmart 8250 printer and have > no problems printing webpages. > > Could you repeat exactly what your problem is? > > I am not using the driver that is in VISTA out-of-the-box but: > > SF_CDD_Full_Non-Network_enu.exe 1/1 (67.39M) > > http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/s...DownloadIndex? > os=2093&softwareitem=ps-48177-1&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&product=443024&lang=en > > so if you are not then I'd suggest uninstalling any HP Software you have > installed for the printer, deleting any printer icons in Printing & > Faxing, unplugging the USB cable from the PC and rebooting. > > Then still without plugging in the USB cable, install that Fully Featured > software. | | Re: Internet Explorer 7 Does Not Allow Printing I forgot to answer this in my previous reply. You asked if I could repeat exactly what my is problem is. Well here it is: I have Vista Windows installed. Printer HP Photosmart 8250 This printer prints from all my applications, it works perfectly. This printer prints web pages when I am using Mozilla Firefox. This printer does not print web pages when I am using Internet Explorer 7. Here is what happens: 1. Select Print or Print Preview on File Command to print an article on a web page using Internet Explorer 7 2. Printer window pops up. 3. Select Print. 4. Printer icon appears temporarily in the Taskbar. 5. It says Open all Active Printers 6. It says Open the Printer Folder 7. It says 0 Documents 8. The 8250 does not appear because nothing went to the queue. 9. It then disappears. 10. Nothing can print because there is nothing in the queue. When I use Mozilla Firefox, this does not happen. I can print any web page using this same printer. Everyone says I should download an update for my printer. I did update the update available for this printer and it was for Vista. There are no more updates available. If I did not have the correct updates, then how come Mozilla Firefox works? They tell me to make sure administrator is selected and that I have privileges. I checked, I do have privileges. Again, if I did not have privileges, how does Mozilla Firefox work? | | Re: Internet Explorer 7 Does Not Allow Printing I know nothing about Firefox -- I've never used it. All I can tell you is that my system does print from IE7 including using the Print Preview facility and that I have installed the HP software I referred to. This does not include the Director Software that Cari referrs to but does install HP Product Assistant and HP Solution Center. You might have a look at the Properties of the PS8250 under Printers / Advanced Tab and see what the settings are there for spooling even if the settings on that Tab are grayed out. I don't know why that is on my machine but one of the troubleshooting is to turn off the Spooler and see if the systeme then prints OK, even if more slowly. The only other thing I can suggest is to reinstall the printer software invoking Run as Administrator on the file from which you install since I have adopted the habit of doing this and as I say -- the sytem works for me. You might also have a look at this VISTA support page: Troubleshoot printer problems http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Win...977e-8244-408f -a036-7978a618d7a21033.mspx#ECB The second item tells how to change or restart the Spooler Service. PS You aren't using VISTA 64-bit are you? |

| | Re: Internet Explorer 7 Does Not Allow Printing Okay, I uninstalled printer and drivers. Downloaded full install from HP website. The one that includes Vista. I installed it Reconnected my usb and power when told to. Every thing installed correctly. I still can print from Mozilla Firefox. I still cannot print from Internet Explorer. I checked Properties Advanced and tried all different ways, print right away, etc. Nothing worked. I give up. I will have to use Mozilla Firefox if I need to print a web page. The following still happens: Here is what happens: 1. | | Re: Internet Explorer 7 Does Not Allow Printing I wish I could come up with a solution for you but when it doesn't happen that way for me I can't think what it can be. How uptodate is your MSIE? MS keeps issuing bug and security fixes -- maybe one of those has gone wrong? Internet Options / Advanced TAB has a reset button -- it won't do any harm to try that. Open HELP in MSIE and search on Repair then look at Repair Internet Explorer for some details. Is there a newsgroup here for Interent Explorer? If so ask there. If not check out the Compuserve Internet Explorer Forum: http://community.compuserve.com/n/pf...g=ws-iesupport Good luck -- and if you solve it do let us know! |
