Vista sees printer, but won't print

After connecting my printer to my new laptop for the first time, Vista
successfully found and installed the printer driver and gave me a message
that the printer was ready to use. When I try to print a document, the
document shows up in the print queue as "printing" but nothing prints.
Everything is plugged in and seems fine, there's paper in the printer, etc. I
can't discover where the problem is. Any ideas?

Re: Vista sees printer, but won't print

Printers can be very idosyncratic - what make and model of printer and how
is it connected (e.g. USB)?

It is perfectly useless to know the right answer to the wrong question.

HP PSC 1410v All in One. It's connected with a USB cable.

Re: Vista sees printer, but won't print

Did you download and install the correct drivers for Vista from the HP
website:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/s...458978&lang=en

You cannot expect it to print just because you connect it to the PC.... you
must have the correct drivers installed... and they should have been
installed BEFORE connection.

RE: Vista sees printer, but won't print

If you get an answer please let me know. I have had to use my HP laptop for
6 months without being able to print. I have installed 4 different printers,
used all the updated drivers, used several different cables, and nothing
works. Tech support with Lexmark and HP all blame Microsoft and Microsoft
blames the printer companies. There is something preventing the data transfer
to the printer and I think it could be Vista.

Try disable Windows Firewall and any Firewall which you have.
