| Guest | Epson photo 890 not working I recently had a printer connexion problem so removed my printer from Vista. Initialy when I installed Vista it knew my printer was there and just installed it. Unfortunately it knows the Printer is now reconected and tries to re-install it but seems to be unable to do so. Cannot use my original disk as I use Vista 64 and the disk is not recognised. Have been to the website where I seem to be unable to find the relevant drivers so I am stuck as I seem unable to Print in Vista. Anybody out there have any ideas. Please do not tell me my printer is too old as until it dies I refuse to buy a new one. Since it worked originaly, Vista must have the drivers or know where they are |

| Guest | RE: Epson photo 890 not working -- William Moore Hello Renee I can't help you with your problem, but only offer my sympathies. I'm having similar printer problems with two HP printers, one old and one new, on an HP computer with VISTA Will Moore "AntRenee" wrote: > I recently had a printer connexion problem so removed my printer from Vista. > Initialy when I installed Vista it knew my printer was there and just > installed it. | Guest | Re: Epson photo 890 not working -- William Moore I had an older HP printer connected to my USB hub when I started VISTA for the first time. VISTA recognized the make and model of the printer and asked if I wanted to find a driver before I had my internet connection established. After I got an internet connection established it offered me a choice of using the driver disk or going online for a driver. Unwisely I chose the disk. Now, VISTA refuses to recognize the existance of that printer by any means whatever. If you go to HP support forums, dozens of people are having printer connection problems with VISTA. Will Moore PS: I have a working printer but it is a late model HP "Alan Morris [MSFT]" wrote: > If you run Add Printer manually, is the printer listed? | Guest | Re: Epson photo 890 not working No, tried that, Vista did add an M to my spec originally when it installed it, I did wonder if I had to put the Vista disk in, I hesitate too touch it though as currently Vista is working Ok and stable. | Guest | Re: Epson Stylus photo 890 not working Initially Parallel, I have to be very careful when unplugging connections to the PC, there appears to be a problem in the hardware, so I end up putting the USB cable in, XP happily recognized that but Vista would not, hence I removed the printer from Vista, more fool me. Short of renewing the Motherboard for which I am not ready yet when the connection works XP happily prints through the parallel. Would like to reconnect to Vista as it is a pain not being able to Print. "huwyngr" wrote: > Which model of printers and how connected to the PC? USB or parallel? > > Which version of VISTA? > > |

| Guest | Re: Epson photo 890 not working Yes I guess I did try too install it with the cable USB plugged in. So much to think about. I guess my problem stems from the fact I have to have XP Pro running for the things Vista will not do but both cable are plugged in most of the time. I do use the USB cable from time to time on a Laptop to go online. | Guest | Re: Epson photo 890 not working Sorry about the duplication. I'm dual booted and have no problems with my HP printers in accessing them from both XP and VISTA but unless Epson is radically different I would try reinstalling the driver for VISTA with the printer turned off and with the USB cable unplugged from the PC. I don't see a VISTA driver at: http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/s...supDetail.jsp? oid=14359&prodoid=176022&BV_UseBVCookie=yes&infoType=Downloads&platform =Windows&x=16&y=9 so you may have to use the XP package: Printer Driver v5.2baA Windows XP, Windows 2000 epson10613.exe - 5.7MB - posted on 12/04/02 It's pretty old but try installing it using Compatibility mode set to XP with SP2 and check [x] Run as Administrator. First of all remove all references in VISTA to the printer including any icon for it in the VISTA equavalent of START / Settings / Printers & Scanners, turn off and unplug the USB cable, reboot the computer and then start the installation by right mouse clicking on the downloaded file (Use Save when you download, not Run) and selection Properties / Compatibility TAB and then set as above. Otherwise I guess it's time for a new printer! 8 ![]() |
