| | Print to File/Output file name issue How can I stop the "print to file" function? When I go to print, that box comes up asking me "Output file name"? I simply wish to print. The print to file box is NOT checked either. I may not be the sharpest knife in the drawer, but this is making me be even more dull. -- Doc |

| | Re: Print to File/Output file name issue Try opening the printer properies and check on the "Ports" tabsheet which port is assigned. It sounds like your printer might be connected to the "FILE:" port. -- Christoph Lindemann Undocumented Printing http://www.undocprint.org/ "DocD514" <DocD514@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:FDC688AE-DA12-4431-AAC6-08F4FE7664D6@microsoft.com... > How can I stop the "print to file" function? | Vista Home Premium | Re: Print to File/Output file name issue Yes, my new computer had the printer connected to the "file" port. What port should the printer be connected to? I selected the USB connection as that is what is used with my printer. The printer turned on but I am still not able to print to it nor can I print a test page (selecting properties from printer control panel provides a print test page option). Any other suggestions? |

| Windows Server 2008 R2 x64, FreeBSD 7 | Re: Print to File/Output file name issue For situations like this I have always a liveCD at hand. Simply boot it and see if your printer works there. If it does all you need are the proper windows vista drivers. If linux won´t see the printer, it´s probable the printer is broken. |
