USB Printing Support - failed

I connected an HP OfficeJet G55 to the Vista machine using the
USB port.

According to the HP website, I should not install any drivers but
just allow Vista to detect and install the printer.

Vista did detect the printer, but came up with the message:

Device driver software was not successfully installed.
USB Printing Support - Failed

There is no other error message.

Does anyone know what to do? HP Support is unable to help me.

Thank you
