| Guest | HP Solution Center Crashes On Vista x64 Due to Tablet-Related Bug HP Solution Center (the scanning software for HP Scanners and All-In-One devices) crashes when tablet functionality is enabled in Vista, for example, if a Wacom graphics tablet is installed. The HpScnVw.exe sub-process of HP Solution Center crashes with a runtime error when invoked via its TWAIN interface with the message: "hpscnvw has stopped working" followed by "Unable to communicate with HP scanning software. Please verify that it has been installed and is working properly. If this problem persists, please shut down your application and try again." Have raised this issue with HP, and have spent considerable time working with them, including sending crash dumps through. However HP say that there's no problem with their software, and keep advising re-installation of Windows (my installation is fresh) or that I raise the issue with Wacom. Have established now that disabling the "Wacom HID Pen" virtual driver allows the HP software to work, however this appears to be a generic Microsoft, not a Wacom driver. Wacom say there's not an issue with their software, and that I need to raise this with Microsoft, as it's a bug in the Microsoft TabletPc functionality. I, and other customers using HP scanners on Vista, are being bounced around by different parties that will not take ownership/responsibility of the issue. Now I'm told it's a Microsoft issue, yet I'm unable to raise the issue with Microsoft Support due to my PID not being recognised (I bought my copy of Vista from Amazon.com). PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAASSEE help! This problem is affecting lot of customers, as the use of HP scanners with tablets is extremely common with graphical applications. My specific software hardware is: -Vista Ultimate x64 -HP Solution Center v9.0 with Hp ScanJet 5590 -Wacom Intuos 2 with driver v6.04 ---------------- This post is a suggestion for Microsoft, and Microsoft responds to the suggestions with the most votes.
