When UAC is on, IE 7 runs in protected mode. Protected mode is invoked
whenever you visit a site in the Internet zone. The instance of iexplore.exe
is running at low integrity level.
If you then visit a site in your Intranet zone, even if you specify to use a
new tab, you'll actually get a new window. This is because Windows needs to
invoke another instance of iexplore.exe -- this time, at medium integrity
level. Also, protected mode isn't enabled in this case.
