| | Re: DEP Garbage Try running IE with no addons. It's likely an addon that is causing the problem. http://msmvps.com/blogs/spywaresucks.../02/88876.aspx -- Kerry Brown Microsoft MVP - Shell/User http://www.vistahelp.ca "Richard" <namail@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:%23vkxtABKIHA.1184@xxxxxx Quote: > how do you turn off that DEP garbage on IE. cannot find an EXE for IE. > > Cannot believe MS dumped such incomplete garbage into the market place. > |

| | Re: DEP Garbage DEP isn't garbage. It overcomes an inherent weakness in the von Neumann architecture which most modern processors (all PC processors) use, that renders them prone to malicious corruption and hacking of the programs stored in memory. If you are getting DEP issues, that means it's doing its job and you are using some software which misbehaves. As Kerry said, this is most likely a badly written IE addon. You would be wise to fix the underlying problem rather than hiding the symptoms. SteveT |

DEP is there to stop you executing data after a fault like a buffer overflow. It works very well too. Turning it off is like uninstalling your AV software because it won't let you run a program that has been infected. Which would you do, fix the problem or turn off the warning? |
