Security

I work for a company that allow its employees to see their paycheques and
benefits by way of accessing the company’s webpage. This can be done from
home on your personal PC.

I have Windows Vista with a pass code to my account. Can the company access
my personal files on my C: drive remotely without my knowledge? I have been
told they cannot physically do such a thing and that it is illegal to do so
(but I don’t think this would stop some people)?

Thank you.

The only way someone can access any files on your computer with a firewall,
personal FW/personal packet filter either running on the computer or sitting
in front of the computer is that software was installed on the computer to
allow one to do so. If it was the company's laptop you were using at home,
they could very well have software on the machine to monitor your activates
and see every move you make with the computer.

I doubt in your case with an online Web solution you're talking about that a
company would even *CARE* what you have on your personal computer.

The paranoia of some people is unbelievable. <g>
