Vista - Vista update error 80073712 - No updates possible

Windows Vista Update does not work any more

I just found out that my system did not update since 29 november 2007, the
error code is 80073712
on 27 november Windows Defender has been updated KB915597
on 30 november I did try to install KB917607, but it did not install

I have removed the temporary internet explorer files,
There is no pending.xml file in the winSXS folder
these are the files in the windows\system32 directory that start with WU*.*

What might be remarkable is the file date WUSA.EXE
Can that be the problem?? And how to solve this??
