Defender "Forgetting" Its Last Scan

Hi,

Every time I reboot my system (restart or shut down) Defender tells me its
not scanned in 15 days. I scan and nothing further from Defender - its happy.

The following day I power on and Defender tells me its not scanned in 16
days, completely forgetting it scanned the day before! This happens every day
and its not at thirty days not scanned.

Its not a big deal, just really bugging me. Is this a known issue or can
anyone help?

Many thanks,
Fybo.

Running Vista Home Premium 32-bit, AVG anti-virus.

Re: Defender "Forgetting" Its Last Scan

Have you done a 'complete' scan rather than simply a quick scan? Also are
the defender definitions updating from Windows Update. Click Start>All
programs>Windows Update. In the windows update window click the view history
and check to see that defender definition updates are listed. If they are
not listed use windows update to download them. Most people leave windows
update to download/update at 3am. I don't. I tell windows update to download
anytime and inform me of updates so I can decide whether to install them or
not. This, to me, is the best option.

I have to admit that I used to have his same problem, especially just after
Vista was initially released, then all of a sudden it disappeared. However,
at the time I always did a 'quick' scan but I never took any notice as to
whether the problem disappeared after performing a 'full' scan. But it is
worth a try, unless anyone else has suggestions.

I don't have that problem as I don't sue Vista on my main PC

I think Vista is rubbish to be honest.

Old wine, new bottle and flogging a dead horse spring to mind.

I don't know if this applies to your machine, but in a different group we
managed to help a poster who had the same problem as you do. He was
regularly running a cleanup tool, and unknowingly wiping his Defender logs
in the process. If you also use something like this, try to exclude Defender
in the options/preferences menu of the tool.
