Re: error code 80073712

80073712 - ERROR_SXS_COMPONENT_STORE_CORRUPT.
Windows Update file corruption.

Delete the file ' pending.xml ' at C:\WINDOWS\WinSxS

If the issue still exists after doing the above:

Reinstall the Windows Update Agent

Windows, x86-based systems
http://download.windowsupdate.com/Wi...gent30-x86.exe

Windows, x64-based systems
http://download.windowsupdate.com/Wi...gent30-x64.exe

Re: error code 80073712

What if I don't have a pending.xml file in that directory? I can't reinstall
the updater because it returns that same error when I try. I am using Vista
Home Premium, by the way.

Re: error code 80073712

Run the Windows Update Agent by right clicking it and choose ' Run as
admimistrator '.
If that still fails to resolve the issue, see if you can manually
download this update, save it, close all programs and browsers, and then
attempt to install it by running as Admin:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/r...DisplayLang=en

Click the *correct* Version of Vista listed on that page to access the
update.

Re: error code 80073712

Ok...none of that worked. I'm starting to think that I will never get my
updates. I think I might actually hate this OS, now.
