Reccording DOS output to a text file

I would like to output DOS window output to a text file. When I trying
something like "dir>c:\text.txt", I get an "Access Denied" message. Anyway
to allow this without hamstring the security model?

Yes, right-click the link to a command prompt and then click Run As
Administrator.

Try this one:

Dir > c:\users\your name\documents\text.txt

in my case that would be:
Dir > c:\users\ko\documents\text.txt

so \your name\ should be the name you used to setup Vista.
