Re: Can someone help me with windows defender.

Anyone got a solution for this? I have this error message since a couple of days now.
I followed the Msoft links and they suggest to uninstall/reinstall Windows Defender.

However, I have no option in my software install/removal to uninstall it. And I can't download it from Msoft (it says: if you are on Vista you alrady have it, hahaha).

Re: Can someone help me with windows defender.

Hello IgnatzMouse,

Since Windows Defender cannot be uninstalled in Vista, see if only doing option 3 at the MS link instead may help.

Error message when you run Windows Defender: "Error Code 0x800106ba"

Also try this MS link as well.

Unable to enable Windows Defender application in Windows Vista

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Re: Can someone help me with windows defender.

Brink,

thanx for your suggestion.Alas, none of them helped.
Using the "regsrv32" stuff, suggested in option 3 of the first link, resulted in 3 errors,
the following modules were not found:
  1. wucltui.dll
  2. wuweb.dll
  3. initpki.dll
Could there be a connection?

The "winmgt /verifyrepository" suggested in your 2nd link did not show any errors/problems.

Anymore ideas/suggestsion?

Thanx

Re: Can someone help me with windows defender.

For the record:

I just found a new link for this problem, and indeed a solution which helped me:
receiving error message 0x800106ba for windows defender - Microsoft Windows Vista Community Forums - Vistaheads

Quite simple (but very strange ): change the Windows Defender service to automatic start and the error message no longer shows...
