Office Outlook security update KB946983

After several updates were installed yesterday, Outlook started having major
problems. I could no longer open attachments, Office would no close
correctly, and deleting an open note would hang. After uninstalling update
KB946983, Outlook went back to functioning normally. I am running Office
2007 under Vista Business. I have no add-ons, or companion products
running, except for McAfee, and I have it's Spam filter turned off. Has
anyone else had problems with this install?? Suggestions on what to look
for, as this Security Update is now waiting to be installed again. I have
turned off auto update until I can find out what is going on.

I have the same problem with XP, i can uninstall the update and if i installed by the download file, i can workaround, but not with vista.

This happens if you install the update with a user and work with another. The user that installs works fine, but the other(s) not.

Ideas anyone!?!?

I've had to uninstall this patch too. The outlook send/receive could not
longer contact any mail servers. When I backed out KB946983 all was fine.
Does anyone know a way of blocking this update while still accepting the
others as it has reinstalled itself overnight twice since!
