Windows update... Not updating!!!

I have set windows update to automatically download and install updates, but
for the last few months it refuses to do so. The update does not start at the
schedulled time of which i've set it to update, and when i do it manually,
all i get is the green progress ber going across the time and time again.
This will go on for hours without update downloading at all!!! Can anyone
tell me why?!

Re: Windows update... Not updating!!!

Click Start > Run > type in or copy and paste the below into the Open:
line, then click OK or press Enter

%windir%\windowsupdate.log

The WindowsUpdate.log will now be open. Start at the *bottom* of the log
and work your way back up until you come to a FATAL or WARNING entry.

Example:

2005-06-02 04:32:01 992 158 Setup FATAL: IsUpdateRequired failed with
error 0x80072eef
2005-06-02 04:32:01 992 158 Misc WARNING: Send failed with hr = 80072eef.

Copy and paste the section just prior to and just after such entries
into your reply, please.

- Stop Automatic Update Service
- delete C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution folder
- delete C:\Windows\WindowsUpdate.log
- Start Automatic Update Service
- Try again
