Antispyware alternative

Is there an antispyware alternative to Windows Defender? Using Windows
Vista a Pre-RC1.

Thanks in advance,
Alice

Re: Antispyware alternative

AVG Antivirus is antivirus not spyware. It for some reason won't even load
on the new RC1 5536 build. However spyware blaster and spyware guard from
http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/ both work on my build

RE: Antispyware alternative

Trend Micro PC Cillin Internet Security seems to run fine and includes
antispyware, antivirus, and a firewall. Its free features, however, are
limited to late October.

Re: Antispyware alternative

Awil's aVast! antivirus works well on RC1 even thought (like most programs)
it is flagged for incompatiblity by Vista.
Only change is you can't update defs or programs from the toolbar ICON but
can from the running program itself.

Re: Antispyware alternative

I did not find that Avast would work on RC1. Vista gave continual
incompatibility warnings and would not load the drivers for the program.

Re: Antispyware alternative

I have been using Ad-Aware SE Professional by Lavasoft with Beta 2 and now
Pre-Rc1 and have not encountered any problem so far.
