Windows Defender won't turn on

My windows defender won't turn on no matter how many times I open it and
click 'on'. Every time it closes it has to be turned on again. This is
confusing the hell out of me. What's going on?

Er... I have windows vista home premium and have that KB whatever update
installed.

Hi BarkingPup,

One of these Microsoft help links may be able to help you get Windows Defender running again.

1. Error message when you run Windows Defender: "Error Code 0x800106ba"

2. Unable to enable Windows Defender application in Windows Vista
