Trojan/Worm suspect in Vista

IE07 opens new sites/windows by it self. I suspect it's trojan/worm but
Windows and McAfee could not dtect anything

RE: Trojan/Worm suspect in Vista

I am not fussed on McAfee at all!
The security I use is listed below.

Try booting into Safe Mode, as per instructions below, and doing a scan with
McAfee.
If if does not work, uninstall it, and install Avast Anti-virus, and repeat
scan.

http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html

Avast Anti-Virus is Vista compatible (32bit and 64bit Versions), FREE,
auto-updating, and a low resources user of your computer.
And, only have 1(one) Anti-Virus installed / running on your computer at any
one time..
Conflicts may occur if you have more than 1(one).

http://www.spybot.info/en/index.html

Spybot Search & Destroy 1.5.2 is a very good, FREE Anti-Spyware Program.
Download, install, update, and immunize your System with it.
Then SCAN with it.
Update once a fortnight.

http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html

SpywareBlaster 4.0 is a non-intrusive, FREE Anti-Spyware Program that runs
in the background.
Update it once a fortnight, and let it do its work in the background!

If you happen to find a problem that you can’t uninstall / delete, reboot
the computer, and go into Safe Mode.
To get into Safe mode, tap F8 right at Power On/ Startup, and use UP and
DOWN arrow keys to get to Safe Mode, then hit ENTER.
RESCAN your computer with Avast and Spybot S & D while in Safe Mode.

Re: Trojan/Worm suspect in Vista

It sounds like a spyware infection. Antivirus programs are generally not
very effective against these. I suggest you install Spybot Search and
Destroy and SUPERAntiSpyware and update both and run full scans.
You can download both here

Re: Trojan/Worm suspect in Vista

It sounds more like spyware and adware than it does a virus. First, AVG has
a free antivirus that is much better than McAfee (http://free.grisoft.com).
But, to get rid of the spyware infection, you can download and install
Spybot: Search & Destroy (http://www.safer-networking.org/). Run that, and
your system should be a lot better.

Re: Trojan/Worm suspect in Vista

I just installed Spybot. I have a question regarding updating. It had me
choose where to update from. I live in the eastern time zone, USA. What
should I "check"?

It really makes no difference, that I can tell. I have used several over
time. BN File Forum is my regular. I get reliable connections and fast
downloads commensurate with the speed I pay for from my provider.
