| | Did Recent Update Change DEP? All of sudden my laptop is now shutting down IE7 saying it has encountered a DEP problem where there were no problems before. Are the recent updates (KB950124 & KB950125) responsible? I can't disable the feature from I see. How can I get rid of DEP? Thanks, Dave ltclafae@xxxxxx |

This, effectively turns off DEP for everything else. IMO, this isn't what you should do. But, you're old enough, I suppose. |

| | Re: Did Recent Update Change DEP? Before going to the extreme of turning off DEP you might consider checking to be sure that the problem isn't being caused by a bad add-on for IE. If you want to check this possibility, go into the Programs tab of Internet Options and click on the Manage Add-Ons button. There is a lot of functionality packed into the ensuing dialogs, so be careful, but also be thorough. You could try disabling all non-MS add-ons, testing, re-enabling one-at-a-time, testing, etc. The fact that DEP is shutting IE7 down is an indication of a fairly serious problem. I'd fix the problem instead of killing DEP.
