| | McAfee I have HP with 2.8GHZ Dual Core Pentium CPU. Operating System Vista Home Premium Service Pack1. I had purchased the latest boxed reatil version of McAfee Internet Security Suite. It would not install properly. After install a registration form is suppose to pop up so the software can be registered or other wise none of the auto updates will work. Some how Vista is blocking this feature, keeping me from being able to register it. I've through all levels of tech support with McAfee without success. The retail boxed version cannot be registered on their website. They said it can only be done through the softwares builtin registration form. But thier final resolution was that I reinstall Vista. But for me this would seem impractible cause I would have to backup over 100g if data. Laszlo |

| | RE: McAfee If their Tech support can not get it working, ask for a refund. It is bloated software, and you are better off without it. Below are links to a better Anti-virus, Avast(free program). And a good Anti-spyware program: Spybot search & Destroy9also free program). http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html Avast Anti-Virus is Vista compatible (32bit and 64bit Versions), FREE, auto-updating, and a low resources user of your computer. And, only have 1(one) Anti-Virus installed / running on your computer at any one time.. Conflicts may occur if you have more than 1(one). http://www.spybot.info/en/index.html Spybot Search & Destroy 1.5.2 is a very good, FREE Anti-Spyware Program. Download, install, update, and immunize your System with it. Then SCAN with it. Update it, and scan your System once a fortnight. -- Mick Murphy - Qld - Australia "Laszlo Novak Jr." wrote: Quote: > I have HP with 2.8GHZ Dual Core Pentium CPU. | | Re: McAfee They did say if I restored the PC to original factory settings (reinstalling Vista) it should work. But as far as the reund goes: I bought the software from Wal-mart. They don't give refunds on opened packages of software. Even with a valid receipt. Even if McAfee could give me a refund I no longer have the receipt. But I do have one thing to add. I had tried installing it on my brothers PC and it worked without a hitch. But of course he's got Windows XP Home Edition. Could you give me an input on this? You think maybe something wrong with the stability of windows wista on my PC?
